First Ponkotsu Sunny Meeting at Nomugitouge, Nagano Prefectureᵂ 23 April 2006 — 100 Sunny attended! ポンコツ (ponkotsu) means junk. Even though it was spring, there was still quite a bit of snow left and the wind was very cold.

サニーが100台以上集まるらしい! そんな情報を耳にしたのがはじまりだったそして向った長野県は、野麦峠。 するどうだろう! そこで見たのはサニー、さに ~、 SUNNYYYYYYYY! 本当にサニーが100台以上が集まっちゃったまさにサニー天国な1日だった !! Apparently over 100 Sunny's would gather! That's the information I heard and that's how it all began. So I headed to Nomugi Pass in Nagano Prefecture. And what a surprise! There I saw a Sunny, Sunny, SUNNYYYYYYY! There really were over 100 Sunny's gathered and it was truly a day in Sunny heaven!!

セダンにクーペ、トラックやバン、さらにワゴンもあったりして ……。1966年に誕生したサニーは、年代ことにいろんな形を生み出しながら、日本中、そして世界中に本当にたくさんの仲間たちを増やしながら、まだまだ増え続けているクルマ。そんなサニーが大集合しちゃうってウワサを耳にしたので、早速行ってきました。長野県は野麦峠スキー場。 There are sedans, coupes, trucks, vans, and even wagons... The Sunny, which was born in 1966, has been produced in various forms throughout the years, and has gained many friends all over Japan and the world, and the number of Sunnys is still increasing. I heard a rumor that there would be a large gathering of Sunnys, so I went straight there. Nomugi Pass Ski Resort in Nagano Prefecture.
さて、100台くらい集まるかも ね? といわれて向った野麦峠には 早朝からかなりの数のサニーが集結、 イベントが始まる前から、同じ車種 に乗る仲間たちの絶版パーツの情報 交換、それにキャブのクイックセッ ティング講座なんてのが、そこかし こで展開され、サニー乗りにとって は、本当に有意義な一日となったの です。実際には100台を軽く超え るサニーが全国から集まってきて大 盛況だったわけであります。 Well, we were told that about 100 Sunnys might gather at Nomugi Pass, and so we headed there early in the morning, where a large number of Sunnys gathered. Even before the event started, fellow drivers of the same model exchanged information about discontinued parts, and carburetor quick setting classes were held here and there, making it a truly meaningful day for Sunny drivers. In fact, well over 100 Sunnys gathered from all over the country, making it a huge success.
この最高に楽しい集まりを企画したのは、長野県を本拠地とするポン コッレーシングと、神奈川を中心に活動する湘南サニートラッカーズ。今回は初の共同開催で、第1回大会であるにもかかわらず、本当にたくさんのサニー乗りが参加して、その全員が、それぞれ自分たちのスタイルで、楽しむことができるイベト... This super fun gathering was planned by PON Co. Racing, based in Nagano Prefecture, and Shonan Sunny Trackers, who are active mainly in Kanagawa Prefecture. This was the first time they had held the event together, and even though it was the first tournament, a lot of Sunny riders participated, and it was an event where everyone could enjoy themselves in their own style...

ファントムグリルにワンオフのフロントスポイラーがひときわ目をひく、乾 和男さんのサニトラ。USパーツや110用リアバンパー、そしてハーレー用のマフラーエンドなど、後にまわっても個性あふれるパーツのテンコ盛り。細かく、センスよく手が入った一台だ。 The Phantom Grill and one-off front spoiler on Kazuo Inui's Sunny Truck are particularly eye-catching. It's loaded with a ton of unique parts, including US parts, a 110 rear bumper, and a Harley muffler end. It's a car that's been meticulously and tastefully worked on.

低い車高に前後8Jのワイドタイヤが収まる姿が、かっこいいの一言。蓼原さんの210バンはエンジンも 1607cc仕様のフルチューン。この速さとかっこ良さが仲良しの秘訣。実はポンコツレーシングの会長さんなのです。 The low ride height and wide 8J tires are simply cool. Tadehara's 210 van also has a fully tuned 1607cc engine. This speed and coolness is the secret to their friendship. He is actually the president of Ponkotsu Racing.

「前はもっと低かったです」と笑いながら話してくれたのは松下さん。もっと低いって、着地しかないような気がします。タイヤも極限 の引っ張りって感じで、さすがにチューブ入りとか。エンジンはA14が載ってます。 "It was lower before," Matsushita-san said with a laugh. If it was lower, it would have to land. The tires were also pulling at their limit, and they were probably fitted with tubes. The engine was an A14.

110セダンにぺったりの車高、ホイールはハヤシキャスト。エンジンはA15改。乗ってて楽しいのがサニーの魅力という一杉さん。オレンジのペイントも決まってます。 The car is flat against the 110 sedan, and the wheels are Hayashi Cast. The engine is a modified A15. Hitosugi says that the appeal of the Sunny is that it's fun to drive. The orange paint is also perfect.

寺井麻理さん、26歳がオーナー。サニーの魅力は「乗せられている感じがしないところ」となかなか解かってますね ~~。ホイールやグリルも渋い。 The owner is Mari Terai, 26 years old. She understands that the appeal of the Sunny is that it "doesn't feel like you're driving it." The wheels and grille are also cool.
Mr. PON says he likes exhaust notes like a motorcycle
オートバイみたいなエキゾーストノートが気に入ってるところというPONさん。エンジンノーマル+吸排気はソレタコ仕様。シートはレカロを装着。 PON-san likes the motorcycle-like exhaust note. The engine is standard and the intake and exhaust are standard. The seats are Recaro.

Kimura-san's S44 Datsun 1000 Sunny Truck - Candy Red
なんか別のイベントでもお見かけした気がしますが勘違いでしょうか?しかし、これはシブすぎます。昭和44年のB20。キャンディーレッドは微妙なグラデレストアされて大事にされているのが伝わってきます。オーナーは木村さん。 I feel like I've seen this at another event, but maybe I'm mistaken? But this is too cool. It's a B20 from 1969. The candy red has been subtly restored and you can tell it's been well looked after. The owner is Mr. Kimura.
Kimura-san Sunny Truck with DVD Navigation and Aircon
ETCにDVDナビ、そしてエアコン。さらには友達のスターレットについていたデジタル時計や珍しいモモステと見どころいっぱいの木村さんのサニートラック。快適さとレトロが同居してる感じですね。きっと屋根の上の彼女もお気に入りのはず。 ETC, DVD navigation, and air conditioning. Kimura's Sunny Truck is full of interesting things to see, including a digital clock from his friend's Starlet and a rare Momo steering wheel. Comfort and retro feel coexist here. I'm sure the girl on the roof will love it too.
Mr. Kuroda's Sunny Truck
20歳の若さでサニトラの楽しさに気が付いてしまうなんて、グッドなクルマ人生ですよきっと。オーディオはロンサムカーボーイ。水中花のシフトノブ。黒田さんしぶい趣味ですね。 Discovering the joys of Sunny Trucks at the tender age of 20, he surely has a good car life. His audio is Lonesome Cowboy. The shift knob is made of water flowers. Mr. Kuroda has some cool hobbies.
Ozawa-san Sunny Truck
青メタのオールペンにカーボンボンネット。そしてレアなナポレオンミラー。後にまわるとぶっ太いマフラーが主張する小澤さんのサニートラック。サニトラの魅力は「いじっても、いじっても飽きのこない奥深さ。そして乗っていて楽しいこと」。 The car is painted blue metallic with a carbon bonnet and rare Napoleon mirrors. When you turn around, Ozawa's Sunny Truck is highlighted by its chunky muffler. The appeal of the Sunny Truck is that "no matter how much you tinker with it, it never gets boring. And it's fun to drive."
Nakamura-san 1990 Sunny Truck
ホイールとハンドルとシート以外はすべて、車高もノーマルなのが、中村さんの平成2年式。これからなのか、このままなのか、どっちでも楽しめそうですね。関係ないですが、彼女、可愛いっすね。 Nakamura's 1990 model is standard except for the wheels, steering handle, and seat, and the ride height is also standard. 昭和62年式のサニトラで兵庫から友達とやってきたのは、藤井さん。エンジンはA15、ホイールはクロスフィーバーの7.5J。 Fujii-san came with his friend from Hyogo in a 1987 Sunny Truck. The engine is an A15 and the wheels are Cross Fever 7.5J.

A Fun Sunny Meeting
長野を中心に活動しているサニー&サニトラ系Q車クラブの「信州ポンコツレーシング」と「湘南サニートラッカーズ」が主催したポンコツサニーミーティング。その時の様子をちょっと紹介しよう。 The Sunny meeting was organized by the Nagano-based Sunny & Sunny Truck Q-car clubs "Shinshu Ponkotsu Racing" and "Shonan Sunny Truckers". Let me give you a little glimpse of what it was like at the time.
ワイワイ大盛況 !! A lively and successful event!!
ゴールデンウィーク直前の4月23 日、長野は野麦峠スキー場駐車場で 開催されたポンコツサニーミーティ ンタ、主催は信物ポンコツレーシン グる湘南サニートラッカーズだ、歩 加者の大半は顔見知り同士で、気心 が知れた仲間が集まったこともあっ て、 会場の雰囲気は和気あいおい! 当日集まった車たちをちょっと紹介 していくことにしよう、キマったサ ニーやカッコいいサニトラはかりだ On April 23rd, just before Golden Week, the Ponkotsu Sunny Meet was held in the parking lot of Nomugi Pass Ski Resort in Nagano, organized by the trustworthy Ponkotsu Racing Shonan Sunny Truckers. Most of the participants were familiar with each other, and as they gathered with good friends, the atmosphere at the venue was very friendly! Let's take a look at some of the cars that gathered that day, including some cool Sunnys and some cool Sunny Trucks.

オーナーの一杉さん Owner: Mr. Hitosugi
今でも根強い人気を保っているサニー&サニトラ、いじりやすくて手を入れればその結果がハッキリ現れる。乗ればカンカン上まで気持ちよく回って、踏んでいるだけで楽しくなるのもA型の魅力だ。 The Sunny and Sunny Trucks are still popular to this day, and are easy to tinker with, so the results are clear when you put your hands on them. The A-type is also appealing in that it spins up and down smoothly, and just pedaling it is fun.
ボロボロのB110サニーを自力でここまできれいに仕上げた I managed to make my worn out B110 Sunny look this good all by myself.
Nardi steering wheels, Ricaro and Bride seats
ステアリングはナルヂィ、メーターパネルベタコメーターを埋め込む。シートは運転席がリカロ、助手席はブリッド、クラッチはマーチ凡流用、何をやるにしてもサビとの戦いだった。 The steering wheel was a Nardi, the meter panel had a tachometer built in. The driver's seat was a Ricaro, the passenger seat was a Bride, and the clutch was a March. Whatever I did, I had to fight against rust.

ブライベーターらしくオイルゲージにドライバーの柄。 The oil gauge and driver handle are perfect for a privateer.
燃料ポンプは新品の電磁ボンプ。これだけで変わる。 The fuel pump is a new electromagnetic pump. This alone makes a difference.
Hayashi wheels and Matsuoka air dam
ホイールは前後13×7 Jオフ-8のハヤシ、アッパーマウイントはシルビア消を流用する。 The wheels are 13x7J offset-8 Hayashi front and rear, and the upper mount is a reused Silvia wheel.
フロントの足は自作車に講。ちなみにフロントスポイラーはマツオカのTS)。 The front legs are from a homemade car. The front spoiler is a Matsuoka TS.
